US Employers Add 148k Jobs in Delayed September Report Tuesday, October 22, 11:36 AM ET
This morning, the Labor Department released its payroll report for the month of September which had been delayed by sixteen days because of the government shutdown. In September, US employers added 148,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate dipped to 7.2%. The Labor Department also noted positive revisions to the August payroll report and a negative revision to the July report. On the news, the major US indices headed higher.
