Jobless Claims Dip Below 300k Thursday, December 5, 11:26 AM ET
This morning, the Labor Department reported initial jobless claims fell by 23,000 last week to a seasonally-adjusted 298,000 claims. An official from the Labor Department noted that it is not unusual for there to be increased volatility around holidays, but the four week moving average is now at the lows seen in September. The US markets sunk on the news as investors are associating a better labor picture with higher interest rates from the Federal Reserve.
