This morning, Norfolk Southern (NYSE:NSC) reported fourth quarter earnings of $513 million, or $1.64 per share, as revenue climbed by 7% to $2.88 billion. The railroad company topped Wall Street estimates on both the top and bottom line, sending shares higher today. In the report, the company said total shipping volume increased by 4% despite an 8% drop in coal volumes. In early trading, shares of Norfolk Southern were higher by 6.4%.
