Jobless Claims Fall More Than Economists Thought Thursday, February 6, 11:12 AM ET
This morning, the Labor Department reported that initial jobless claims declined by 20,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 331,000 new claims. The decline was greater than economists had been expecting, leading many to believe the January payroll report due out tomorrow morning will show healthy job growth. The markets were responding positively this morning, with the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P 500 all in the green.
