As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Friday, Guaranty Federal Bancshares (NASDAQ:GFED)'s Director, John F. Griesemer, made a $349,968 purchase of GFED, buying 30,432 shares at a cost of $11.50 each. So far Griesemer is in the green, up about 9.6% on their buy based on today's trading high of $12.60. Guaranty Federal Bancshares is trading up about 0.2% on the day Monday.
And on Wednesday, Director Paul J. Evanson purchased $222,450 worth of American Water Works (NYSE:AWK), purchasing 5,000 shares at a cost of $44.49 each. This purchase marks the first one filed by Evanson in the past year. American Water Works is trading trading flat on the day Monday.
