Bargain hunters are wise to pay careful attention to insider buying, because although there are many various reasons for an insider to sell a stock, presumably the only reason they would use their hard-earned dollars to make a purchase, is that they expect to make money. Today we look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Friday, Dawson Geophysical (NASDAQ:DWSN)'s Director, Craig W. Cooper, made a $290,701 buy of DWSN, purchasing 10,000 shares at a cost of $29.07 each. Dawson Geophysical is trading off about 0.6% on the day Tuesday. This purchase marks the first one filed by Cooper in the past twelve months.
And on Thursday, Director Grover T. Wickersham bought $232,050 worth of S&W Seed (NASDAQ:SANW), buying 35,000 shares at a cost of $6.63 each. Before this latest buy, Wickersham purchased SANW at 2 other times during the past year, for a total investment of $1.05M at an average of $6.02 per share. S&W Seed is trading down about 2.5% on the day Tuesday. So far Wickersham is in the green, up about 14.5% on their buy based on today's trading high of $7.59.
