The US markets are higher this afternoon, with the Dow up 0.09%, the S&P up 0.32% and the Nasdaq higher by 0.76% so far today. Some of the most actively traded stocks include Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) up 1.17%, Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) higher by 1.1%, Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA) up 4.18% and AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) down 11.5%.
Good afternoon, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for May 19, 2014.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was down 0.64%, and the Hang Seng was lower by 0.04%. In Europe on Monday, the FTSE 100 was lower by 0.16% and the German DAX was up 0.31% today.
In economic news, Initial Claims, Existing Home Sales, and Leading Indicators are released on Thursday. New Home Sales comes out Friday.
Many earnings releases this week including: Home Depot (NYSE:HD) on Tuesday, Eaton Vance (NYSE:EV) on Wednesday, and Gap (NYSE:GPS) and Sears Holdings (NASDAQ:SHLD) on Thursday.
