The US markets are higher this afternoon, with the Dow up 0.33%, the S&P up 0.46% and the Nasdaq higher by 0.88% so far today. Some of the most actively traded stocks include Facebook (FB) up 2.84%, Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) higher by 2.99%, The Hillshire Brands (HSH) up 22.45% and Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) up 0.92%.
Good afternoon, this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for May 27, 2014.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was up 0.23%, and the Hang Seng was lower by 0.08%. In Europe on Tuesday, the FTSE 100 was higher by 0.43% and the German DAX was up 0.49% today.
In economic news, Initial Claims and GDP are released Thursday and Personal Income, Chicago PMI and Michigan Sentiment on Friday.
Many earnings releases this week including: Chico's FAS (NYSE:CHS) and Toll Brothers (NYSE:TOL) on Wednesday, Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF) and Pall Corp (NASDAQ:PLL) on Thursday, and ANN Inc (ANN) and Big Lots (NYSE:BIG) on Friday.
