The US markets are higher in early afternoon trading, with the Dow up 0.27%, the S&P higher by 0.46% and the Nasdaq up 0.80%. Some of the most actively traded stocks include Kinder Morgan (NYSE:KMI), up 11%, MannKind (MNKD) up 5.15%, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) up 1.2% and Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) just about flat.
Good afternoon, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for August 11, 2014.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was higher by 2.38%, and the Hang Seng was up 1.29%. In Europe, the FTSE 100 was higher by 1% and the German DAX was up 1.9% today.
In economic news, Retail Sales and Business Inventories are released Wednesday, Initial Claims on Thursday, and PPI on Friday.
Companies releasing earnings this week include: Forest Oil Corp (FST) and URS Corp (URS) on Tuesday, Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) on Wednesday, Advance Auto Parts (NYSE:AAP) and JC Penney Company (JCP) on Thursday, and Estee Lauder Companies (NYSE:EL) on Friday.
