The US markets are higher in early afternoon trading, with the Dow up 0.18%, the S&P higher by 0.44% and the Nasdaq up 0.49%. Some of the most actively traded stocks include Groupon (GRPN) up 7.5%, Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) higher by 0.23%, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) down 0.47%, and Facebook (FB) up 1.87%.
Good afternoon, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for August 4, 2014.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by 0.31%, and the Hang Seng was up 0.28%. In Europe, the FTSE 100 was down 0.02% and the German DAX was lower by 0.61% today.
In economic news, Factory Orders are released tomorrow, Trade Balance on Wednesday, Initial Claims on Thursday, and Wholesale Inventories on Friday.
Companies releasing earnings this week include: Cablevision (CVC) and CVS Caremark (NYSE:CVS) on Tuesday, Dun & Bradstreet Corp (NYSE:DNB) and Neenah Paper (NP) on Wednesday, Brinker International (NYSE:EAT) and CBS Corp (CBS) on Thursday and E. W. Scripps (NASDAQ:SSP) on Friday.
