In afternoon trading on Friday, Utilities stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.9% loss. Within the sector, AES Corp. (NYSE:AES) and SCANA Corp (NYSE:SCG) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 3.1% and 2.9%, respectively. Among utilities ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX:XLU), which is down 0.9% on the day, and up 12.03% year-to-date. AES Corp., meanwhile, is down 1.98% year-to-date, and SCANA Corp, is down 16.18% year-to-date. Combined, AES and SCG make up approximately 2.4% of the underlying holdings of XLU.

The next worst performing sector is the Financial sector, showing a 0.5% loss. Among large Financial stocks, Macerich Co (NYSE:MAC) and Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG) are the most notable, showing a loss of 3.1% and 2.8%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Financial stocks is the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF), which is down 0.3% in midday trading, and up 7.23% on a year-to-date basis. Macerich Co , meanwhile, is down 18.80% year-to-date, and Simon Property Group, Inc., is down 9.85% year-to-date.
