In afternoon trading on Monday, Services stocks are the worst performing sector, higher by 0.6%. Within that group, Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE:JWN) and Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 3.8% and 1.8%, respectively. Among the largest ETFs, one ETF closely following services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (NYSE:IYC), which is up 0.5% on the day, and up 8.90% year-to-date. Nordstrom, Inc., meanwhile, is down 5.20% year-to-date, and Charter Communications Inc is up 34.02% year-to-date. Combined, JWN and CHTR make up approximately 2.9% of the underlying holdings of IYC.
The next worst performing sector is the Utilities sector, higher by 0.8%. Among large Utilities stocks, NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG) and American Electric Power Company, Inc. (NYSE:AEP) are the most notable, with NRG showing a loss of 0.1% and AEP up 0.3%. One ETF closely tracking Utilities stocks is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLU), which is up 0.9% in midday trading, and up 16.65% on a year-to-date basis. NRG Energy Inc, meanwhile, is up 95.68% year-to-date, and American Electric Power Company, Inc. is up 21.03% year-to-date. Combined, NRG and AEP make up approximately 6.3% of the underlying holdings of XLU.
