The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, higher by 0.9%. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, Microchip Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MCHP) and Qualcomm Inc (NASDAQ:QCOM) are the most notable, showing a loss of 1.4% and 1.2%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which is up 0.8% in midday trading, and up 4.92% on a year-to-date basis. Microchip Technology Inc, meanwhile, is down 1.57% year-to-date, and Qualcomm Inc, is down 13.07% year-to-date. Combined, MCHP and QCOM make up approximately 1.7% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
