Thursday Sector Laggards: Energy, Services

The worst performing sector as of midday Thursday is the Energy sector, showing a 1.5% loss. Within that group, APA Corp (NASDAQ:APA) and Diamondback Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:FANG) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 2.5% and 2.5%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE:XLE), which is down 1.4% on the day, and up 29.71% year-to-date. APA Corp, meanwhile, is up 25.16% year-to-date, and Diamondback Energy, Inc. is up 53.69% year-to-date. Combined, APA and FANG make up approximately 2.4% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
The next worst performing sector is the Services sector, showing a 1.3% loss. Among large Services stocks, Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:DLTR) and The Gap Inc (NYSE:GPS) are the most notable, showing a loss of 11.9% and 4.3%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (IYC), which is down 0.8% in midday trading, and up 11.97% on a year-to-date basis. Dollar Tree Inc, meanwhile, is down 13.35% year-to-date, and The Gap Inc is up 32.02% year-to-date. Combined, DLTR and GPS make up approximately 0.6% of the underlying holdings of IYC.
