The SPDR Portfolio Small Cap ETF (NYSE:SPSM) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Wednesday, with over 4.7 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 327,000. Shares of SPSM were down about 1.1% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Wednesday were Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK), trading off about 4.1% with over 28.5 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Southwestern Energy (NYSE:SWN), off about 5.6% on volume of over 16.3 million shares. KMG Chemicals (NYSE:KMG) is the component faring the best Wednesday, up by about 16.1% on the day, while Sigma Designs (NASDAQ:SIGM) is lagging other components of the SPDR Portfolio Small Cap ETF, trading lower by about 96.5%.
