Thirty Year Treasury Definition Thursday, September 26, 3:25 PM ET
The Thirty Year Treasury is debt issued by the US government which matures in thirty years. The fixed rate note pays interest one time every six months, until maturity, at which time it pays the holder face value. Generally the thirty year treasury will offer a higher interest rate then shorter term treasury notes.
