Initial Jobless Rise to 339k Thursday, February 13, 10:57 AM ET
This morning, the Labor Department reported initial jobless claims increased by 8,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 339,000 claims. In the report, the prior week's report was unchanged and the four week moving average increased to just under 337,000 new claims. While the numbers were modestly higher than economists had been expecting, investors are more focused on the 0.4% drop in retail sales last month which has the markets trading lower on Thursday morning.
