In early trading on Friday, shares of Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) topped the list of the day's best performing Dow Jones Industrial Average components, trading up 0.8%. Year to date, Wal-Mart has lost about 3.3% of its value.
And the worst performing Dow component thus far on the day is General Electric (NYSE:GE), trading down 0.7%. General Electric is lower by about 6.4% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are Caterpillar (CAT), trading down 0.7%, and Merck (MRK), trading up 0.3% on the day.
