The US markets are higher in early afternoon trading, with the Dow up 1.02%, the S&P higher by 0.81% and the Nasdaq up 0.91%. Some of the most actively traded stocks include Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) up 1.45%, Bank of America (BAC) higher by 1.4%, Dollar General (NYSE:DG) up 10.36%, and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) up 1.27%.
Good afternoon, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for August 18, 2014.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average and the Hang Seng were both relatively flat. In Europe, the FTSE 100 was higher by 0.78% and the German DAX was up 1.68% today.
In economic news, CPI, Housing Starts and Building Permits are released on Tuesday, and Initial Claims and Existing Home Sales on Thursday.
Companies releasing earnings this week include: Dick's Sporting Goods (NYSE:DKS) and Home Depot (NYSE:HD) on Tuesday, American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) and HP (NYSE:HP) on Wednesday, Dollar Tree (NASDAQ:DLTR) and Gap (NYSE:GPS) on Thursday, and Foot Locker (NYSE:FL) on Friday.
