The US markets are higher in early afternoon trading, with the Dow up 0.57%, the S&P higher by 0.57% and the Nasdaq up 0.52%. Some of the most actively traded stocks include Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) up 1.22%, InterMune (ITMN) higher by 35.44%, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) up 0.55%, and JC Penney (JCP) higher by 4.56%.
Good afternoon, this is Kristin Bianco with the Week Ahead Market Report for August 25, 2014.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average and the Hang Seng were both higher, with the Nikkei up 0.48% and the Hang Seng higher by 0.22%. In Europe, the FTSE 100 was lower by 0.04% and the German DAX was up 1.83% today.
In economic news, Durable Orders and Consumer Confidence are released tomorrow, Initial Claims and GDP on Thursday, and Personal Income on Friday.
Companies releasing earnings this week include: Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) on Tuesday, Tiffany (TIF) on Wednesday, Genesco (NYSE:GCO) on Thursday, and Big Lots (NYSE:BIG) on Friday.
