The fourteenth full trading week of 2015 comes to a close with the Dow Jones, S&P 500 and NASDAQ composite all higher at the close on Friday.
Most actively traded stocks include GE (NYSE:GE) up 10.8%, Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) down 1.65%, Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA) up 4.62% and Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) up 0.06%.
The S&P 500, Dow and Nasdaq Composite are significantly higher in the last five days of trading.
Crude oil futures are higher this week, trading at $51.77 per barrel on Friday afternoon.
And Gold futures are slightly higher this week, trading at $1208.49 an ounce this afternoon.
In economic news, in the week ending April 4, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 281,000, an increase of 14,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 1,000 from 268,000 to 267,000. The 4-week moving average was 282,250, a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week's revised average. This is the lowest level for this average since June 3, 2000 when it was 281,500. The previous week's average was revised down by 250 from 285,500 to 285,250.
U.S. import prices fell 0.3 percent in March following a 0.2-percent upturn the previous month, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. In March, lower nonfuel prices more than offset a rise in fuel prices. The price index for U.S. exports rose in March, ticking up 0.1 percent, after declining 0.2 percent in February.
In corporate dividend news, Ford Motor Company declared a second quarter dividend of $0.15 per share on the company's outstanding Class B and common stock. This is the same level of dividend paid in the first quarter of 2015, and is a 20 percent increase from quarterly dividends paid in 2014. The second quarter dividend is payable on June 1, 2015 to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 1, 2015.
Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT) voted today to maintain the quarterly cash dividend of seventy cents per share of common stock, payable May 20, 2015, to stockholders of record at the close of business on April 20, 2015.
Automatic Data Processing (NASDAQ:ADP), has declared a regular quarterly dividend of 49 cents per share payable July 1, 2015 to shareholders of record on June 12, 2015.
Constellation declared an initial quarterly cash dividend of $0.31 per share of Class A Common Stock and $0.28 per share of Class B Common Stock, payable on May 22, 2015 to stockholders of record as of the close of business on May 8, 2015.
KB Home (NYSE:KBH) has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.025 per share on the Company's common stock, payable on May 21, 2015 to stockholders of record on May 7, 2015.
And, Sovran Self Storage (NYSE:SSS) announced a quarterly dividend of $0.75 per share of common stock. The dividend will be paid on April 27, 2015 to Shareholders of record on April 17, 2015.
