In trading on Wednesday, gas utilities shares were relative laggards, down on the day by about 0.3%. Helping drag down the group were shares of Midcoast Energy Partners (MEP), off about 24.7% and shares of South Jersey Industries (NYSE:SJI) off about 2.4% on the day.
Also lagging the market Wednesday are water utilities shares, about flat on the day as a group, led down by Consolidated Water Company (NASDAQ:CWCO), trading lower by about 1.9% and Aqua America (NYSE:WTR), trading lower by about 1.1%.
