As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
At Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE:VNO), a filing with the SEC revealed that on Wednesday, Director Daniel R. Tisch purchased 50,000 shares of VNO, at a cost of $88.53 each, for a total investment of $4.43M. Investors can buy VNO at a price even lower than Tisch did, with shares trading as low as $86.35 in trading on Friday which is 2.5% under Tisch's purchase price. Vornado Realty Trust is trading up about 1.2% on the day Friday.
And at Aware (NASDAQ:AWRE), there was insider buying on Tuesday, by Director John S. Stafford Jr. who purchased 286,671 shares at a cost of $5.22 each, for a total investment of $1.5M. Aware is trading trading flat on the day Friday. Investors have the opportunity to buy AWRE at a price even lower than Stafford Jr. did, with the stock trading as low as $5.05 in trading on Friday -- that's 3.3% under Stafford Jr.'s purchase price.
