As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
At Lonestar Resources US (LONE), a filing with the SEC revealed that on Thursday, Director Robert N. Scott bought 15,000 shares of LONE, for a cost of $5.75 each, for a total investment of $86,250. Scott was up about 36.5% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with LONE trading as high as $7.85 at last check today. Lonestar Resources US is trading up about 2.2% on the day Tuesday.
And at Atlantic Power Corp (AT), there was insider buying on Thursday, by Director Gilbert Samuel Palter who purchased 25,000 shares at a cost of $2.53 each, for a total investment of $63,200. Before this latest buy, Palter purchased AT on 9 other occasions during the past year, for a total investment of $507,902 at an average of $2.12 per share. Atlantic Power Corp is trading trading flat on the day Tuesday.
