As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Tuesday, Royce Value Trust (NYSE:RVT)'s Treasurer, Peter K. Hoglund, made a $297,880 buy of RVT, purchasing 22,000 shares at a cost of $13.54 a piece. So far Hoglund is in the green, up about 0.7% on their buy based on today's trading high of $13.64. Royce Value Trust is trading up about 0.1% on the day Wednesday. This purchase marks the first one filed by Hoglund in the past twelve months.
And on Friday, Director William D. Green purchased $278,799 worth of Inovalon Holdings (NYSE:INOV), purchasing 30,000 shares at a cost of $9.29 each. Before this latest buy, Green made one other purchase in the past twelve months, buying $486,555 shares for a cost of $16.22 a piece. Inovalon Holdings is trading up about 1.3% on the day Wednesday. So far Green is in the green, up about 2.8% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $9.55.
