As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Thursday, New Age Beverages (NASDAQ:NBEV)'s Director, Timothy J. Haas, made a $57,678 buy of NBEV, purchasing 15,000 shares at a cost of $3.85 a piece. So far Haas is in the green, up about 3.2% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $3.97. New Age Beverages is trading off about 1% on the day Tuesday. This buy marks the first one filed by Haas in the past year.
And at Layne Christensen (NASDAQ:LAYN), there was insider buying on Thursday, by CFO and Sr. VP J. Michael Anderson who purchased 2,000 shares for a cost of $7.93 each, for a total investment of $15,856. Layne Christensen is trading off about 1.7% on the day Tuesday. Anderson was up about 3.6% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with LAYN trading as high as $8.21 in trading on Tuesday.
