As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Wednesday, Universal Electronics (NASDAQ:UEIC)'s Director, William C. Mulligan, made a $279,525 purchase of UEIC, buying 5,000 shares at a cost of $55.91 a piece. So far Mulligan is in the green, up about 3.9% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $58.10. Universal Electronics is trading up about 0.6% on the day Friday.
And at NuStar Energy LP (NYSE:NS), there was insider buying on Wednesday, by Director William E. Greehey who bought 6,899 shares at a cost of $38.61 each, for a trade totaling $266,402. Before this latest buy, Greehey bought NS at 5 other times during the past twelve months, for a total cost of $19.20M at an average of $46.20 per share. NuStar Energy LP is trading up about 0.2% on the day Friday. So far Greehey is in the green, up about 0.9% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $38.98.
