As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Monday, Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical's CEO, Emil D. Kakkis, made a $393,922 buy of RARE, purchasing 7,500 shares at a cost of $52.52 a piece. Kakkis was up about 8.2% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with RARE trading as high as $56.84 in trading on Wednesday. Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical is trading up about 3% on the day Wednesday.
And at Regal Entertainment Group, there was insider buying on Tuesday, by Director Thomas D. Bell Jr. who bought 25,000 shares for a cost of $14.76 each, for a total investment of $369,000. Regal Entertainment Group is trading up about 0.2% on the day Wednesday.
