As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
At Integra LifeSciences Holdings, a filing with the SEC revealed that on Tuesday, Director Barbara B. Hill bought 10,768 shares of IART, at a cost of $46.66 each, for a total investment of $502,446. So far Hill is in the green, up about 2.0% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $47.61. Integra LifeSciences Holdings is trading up about 2.5% on the day Thursday. Before this latest buy, Hill made one other purchase in the past twelve months, buying $249,110 shares at a cost of $49.33 a piece.
And at Blue Hills Bancorp, there was insider buying on Tuesday, by EVP + CFO Jim Kivlehan who purchased 12,178 shares at a cost of $21.78 each, for a trade totaling $265,188. This purchase marks the first one filed by Kivlehan in the past twelve months. Blue Hills Bancorp is trading up about 1.7% on the day Thursday. Bargain hunters can grab BHBK at a price even lower than Kivlehan did, with shares changing hands as low as $20.90 in trading on Thursday -- that's 4.0% under Kivlehan's purchase price.
