As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Monday, Verisk Analytics' CEO and President, Scott G. Stephenson, made a $2.02M purchase of VRSK, buying 22,200 shares at a cost of $91.16 each. Stephenson was up about 1.9% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with VRSK trading as high as $92.92 in trading on Tuesday. Verisk Analytics is trading up about 1.4% on the day Tuesday. Before this latest buy, Stephenson made one other purchase in the past twelve months, buying $2.02M shares for a cost of $91.16 a piece.
And at Discovery Communications, there was insider buying on Monday, by Director J. David Wargo who bought 100,000 shares for a cost of $15.76 each, for a total investment of $1.58M. Discovery Communications is trading up about 4.7% on the day Tuesday. So far Wargo is in the green, up about 14.8% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $18.09.
