As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Friday, Dollar Tree (NASDAQ:DLTR)'s Director, Conrad M. Hall, made a $918,281 buy of DLTR, purchasing 10,000 shares at a cost of $91.83 a piece. Hall was up about 4.0% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with DLTR trading as high as $95.47 at last check today. Dollar Tree is trading up about 0.7% on the day Tuesday. Before this latest buy, Hall bought DLTR at 2 other times during the past year, for a total cost of $683,200 at an average of $68.32 per share.
And on Monday, CEO Richard A. Miller, M.D. bought $850,000 worth of Corvus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:CRVS), buying 100,000 shares at a cost of $8.50 each. Before this latest buy, Miller, M.D. purchased CRVS on 2 other occasions during the past year, for a total investment of $354,934 at an average of $10.14 per share. Corvus Pharmaceuticals is trading up about 3% on the day Tuesday. Miller, M.D. was up about 22.9% on the buy at the high point of today's trading session, with CRVS trading as high as $10.45 in trading on Tuesday.
