The SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap ETF (NYSE:SLY) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 257,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 41,000. Shares of SLY were up about 0.5% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were J.C. Penney (NYSE:JCP), trading up about 1.3% with over 7.4 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Avon Products (NYSE:AVP), up about 3.1% on volume of over 6.9 million shares. Belmond (NYSE:BEL) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 35.4% on the day, while Maiden Holdings (NASDAQ:MHLD) is lagging other components of the SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap ETF, trading lower by about 23.3%.
