In early trading on Friday, shares of Carmax topped the list of the day's best performing components of the S&P 500 index, trading up 5.3%. Year to date, Carmax registers a 12.6% gain.

And the worst performing S&P 500 component thus far on the day is International Paper, trading down 3.1%. International Paper is showing a gain of 4.6% looking at the year to date performance.

Two other components making moves today are Tiffany, trading down 3.1%, and Equifax, trading up 4.0% on the day.
