In early trading on Friday, shares of Nektar Therapeutics topped the list of the day's best performing components of the S&P 500 index, trading up 5.1%. Year to date, Nektar Therapeutics registers a 39.5% gain.

And the worst performing S&P 500 component thus far on the day is Campbell Soup, trading down 11.8%. Campbell Soup is lower by about 28.1% looking at the year to date performance.

Two other components making moves today are Applied Materials, trading down 9.8%, and IQVIA Holdings, trading up 3.5% on the day.
