Thursday 2/14 Insider Buying Report: GLW, VR

Bargain hunters are wise to pay careful attention to insider buying, because although there are many various reasons for an insider to sell a stock, presumably the only reason they would use their hard-earned dollars to make a purchase, is that they expect to make money. Today we look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.

On Wednesday, Corning (NYSE:GLW)'s Director, Robert F. Cummings Jr., made a $378,300 buy of GLW, purchasing 30,000 shares at a cost of $12.61 a piece. So far Cummings Jr. is in the green, up about 3.0% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $12.99. Corning, Inc. is trading up about 1% on the day Thursday.

And also on Wednesday, Director Matthew J. Grayson purchased $185,000 worth of Validus Holdings (NYSE:VR), purchasing 5,000 shares at a cost of $37.00 a piece. Validus Holdings Ltd is trading off about 0.3% on the day Thursday. Bargain hunters are able to pick up VR at a price even lower than Grayson did, with shares changing hands as low as $34.44 in trading on Thursday -- that's 6.9% under Grayson's purchase price.
