Notable Wednesday Option Activity: MLHR, JCI, CAR

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Miller (Herman) Inc (MLHR), where a total volume of 1,614 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 161,400 underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 48.4% of MLHR's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 333,665 shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $40 strike put option expiring March 19, 2021, with 575 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 57,500 underlying shares of MLHR. Especially high volume was seen for the $62.50 strike call option expiring October 15, 2021, with 7,058 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 705,800 underlying shares of JCI.
