Among the underlying components of the Russell 3000 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Southern Company (NYSE:SO), where a total of 17,357 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 1.7 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 45.6% of SO's average daily trading volume over the past month of 3.8 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $62.50 strike put option expiring May 21, 2021, with 5,248 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 524,800 underlying shares of SO.
