Noteworthy Friday Option Activity: UAL, TWLO, PBF

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UAL), where a total volume of 61,978 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 6.2 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 55.8% of UAL's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 11.1 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $51 strike put option expiring July 09, 2021, with 8,590 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 859,000 underlying shares of UAL. Particularly high volume was seen for the $400 strike call option expiring July 16, 2021, with 476 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 47,600 underlying shares of TWLO. And PBF Energy Inc (NYSE:PBF) options are showing a volume of 14,443 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 1.4 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 52.5% of PBF's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.8 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $12 strike put option expiring August 20, 2021, with 5,316 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 531,600 underlying shares of PBF.
