Noteworthy Thursday Option Activity: VRRM, UPST, MO

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Verra Mobility Corp (NASDAQ:VRRM), where a total volume of 2,692 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 269,200 underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 63.3% of VRRM's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 425,025 shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $17.50 strike call option expiring August 20, 2021, with 1,602 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 160,200 underlying shares of VRRM. Upstart Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UPST) options are showing a volume of 21,975 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 2.2 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 63.2% of UPST's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 3.5 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $130 strike call option expiring July 30, 2021, with 4,843 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 484,300 underlying shares of UPST. And Altria Group Inc (NYSE:MO) saw options trading volume of 40,530 contracts, representing approximately 4.1 million underlying shares or approximately 61.9% of MO's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 6.5 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $47.50 strike call option expiring September 17, 2021, with 5,919 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 591,900 underlying shares of MO.
