Looking at options trading activity among components of the S&P 500 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Juniper Networks Inc (NYSE:JNPR), where a total volume of 26,604 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 2.7 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 96.2% of JNPR's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.8 million shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $27.50 strike call option expiring July 23, 2021, with 20,316 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 2.0 million underlying shares of JNPR. Tractor Supply Co. (NASDAQ:TSCO) saw options trading volume of 8,069 contracts, representing approximately 806,900 underlying shares or approximately 89.3% of TSCO's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 903,450 shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $170 strike put option expiring October 15, 2021, with 1,813 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 181,300 underlying shares of TSCO.
