Among the underlying components of the Russell 3000 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA), where a total of 302,917 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 30.3 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 101.2% of MRNA's average daily trading volume over the past month of 29.9 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $400 strike call option expiring August 20, 2021, with 33,627 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 3.4 million underlying shares of MRNA. ViacomCBS Inc (VIAC) options are showing a volume of 113,035 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 11.3 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 97.8% of VIAC's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 11.6 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $44 strike call option expiring September 17, 2021, with 10,369 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 1.0 million underlying shares of VIAC. And Scientific Games Corp (SGMS) options are showing a volume of 6,835 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 683,500 underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 85.3% of SGMS's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 801,585 shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $85 strike call option expiring January 21, 2022, with 5,207 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 520,700 underlying shares of SGMS.
