Among the underlying components of the S&P 500 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MAR), where a total of 14,552 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 1.5 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 64.1% of MAR's average daily trading volume over the past month of 2.3 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $140 strike call option expiring October 15, 2021, with 5,309 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 530,900 underlying shares of MAR. American International Group Inc (NYSE:AIG) options are showing a volume of 24,182 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 2.4 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 62.5% of AIG's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 3.9 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $52.50 strike put option expiring September 17, 2021, with 15,176 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 1.5 million underlying shares of AIG.
