Looking at options trading activity among components of the S&P 500 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Best Buy Inc (NYSE:BBY), where a total volume of 11,969 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 1.2 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 43.6% of BBY's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.7 million shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $111 strike call option expiring September 10, 2021, with 2,069 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 206,900 underlying shares of BBY. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM) saw options trading volume of 68,271 contracts, representing approximately 6.8 million underlying shares or approximately 41.9% of GM's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 16.3 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $49 strike call option expiring September 10, 2021, with 10,087 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 1.0 million underlying shares of GM.
