Noteworthy Monday Option Activity: MS, AZO, MLM

Looking at options trading activity among components of the S&P 500 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), where a total volume of 59,790 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 6.0 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 87.2% of MS's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 6.9 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $90 strike put option expiring October 15, 2021, with 20,179 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 2.0 million underlying shares of MS. AutoZone, Inc. (NYSE:AZO) saw options trading volume of 1,399 contracts, representing approximately 139,900 underlying shares or approximately 83.9% of AZO's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 166,845 shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $1420 strike put option expiring September 24, 2021, with 86 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 8,600 underlying shares of AZO. And Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. (NYSE:MLM) saw options trading volume of 2,160 contracts, representing approximately 216,000 underlying shares or approximately 78.3% of MLM's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 275,980 shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $320 strike put option expiring January 21, 2022, with 605 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 60,500 underlying shares of MLM.
