Among the underlying components of the Russell 3000 index, we saw noteworthy options trading volume today in Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT), where a total of 34,346 contracts have traded so far, representing approximately 3.4 million underlying shares. That amounts to about 46.5% of WMT's average daily trading volume over the past month of 7.4 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $144 strike call option expiring October 22, 2021, with 7,987 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 798,700 underlying shares of WMT. Mattel Inc (NASDAQ:MAT) options are showing a volume of 13,878 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 1.4 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 46.2% of MAT's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 3.0 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $21 strike call option expiring October 22, 2021, with 6,531 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 653,100 underlying shares of MAT.
