Noteworthy Monday Option Activity: MCD, UPS, DELL

Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in McDonald's Corp (NYSE:MCD), where a total volume of 11,669 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 1.2 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 43.5% of MCD's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.7 million shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $240 strike put option expiring November 19, 2021, with 1,151 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 115,100 underlying shares of MCD. United Parcel Service Inc (NYSE:UPS) options are showing a volume of 11,409 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 1.1 million underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 43.3% of UPS's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.6 million shares.
Especially high volume was seen for the $187.50 strike call option expiring October 15, 2021, with 573 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 57,300 underlying shares of UPS. And Dell Technologies Inc (NYSE:DELL) saw options trading volume of 12,774 contracts, representing approximately 1.3 million underlying shares or approximately 43.3% of DELL's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 2.9 million shares.
Particularly high volume was seen for the $115 strike call option expiring November 19, 2021, with 2,899 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 289,900 underlying shares of DELL.
