NCI Building Systems (NCS) returned to profitability in its third quarter, earning 20 cents per share. Looking ahead, the company said it still faces continued weakness in nonresidential construction activity, but its recent agreement with a fund managed by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice for a 250 million dollar investment into the company, will help it ride out the economic storm. NCI shares gained over 21 percent Thursday morning.
Shares of Xyratex (NASDAQ:XRTX) jumped about 20 percent after the company announced better than expected preliminary revenue results for its third quarter, of 247 million dollars. Xyratex is a provider of data storage subsystems and storage process technology.
And shares of Dynavax Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:DVAX) were soaring 60 percent Thursday morning, after announcing that the FDA has removed a clinical hold involving the company's treatment for chronic kidney disease. Dynavax said it will now initiate a phase III trial in the near term.
