Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) said today that more than 100 million apps have been downloaded from its Mac App Store in less than one year.
The Mac App Store includes free and paid apps for the company's computers, payable with iTunes accounts.
Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) offers a version of AutoCAD for Macs in the App Store, which it says has allowed it to reach hundreds of millions around the world.
Mac app developers set prices for their apps, and keep 70% of the revenue.
Apple's entire App Store includes more than 500,000 apps for use across its iPhone, iPod, iPad and other devices, and sees more than one billion downloads per month.
Other smartphone systems, such as Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android have followed a similar app development model.
Apple shares are trading slightly lower on premarket action Monday.
