Investors are ringing in the new trading week digesting news about the death of Kim Jong II and its impact on the global economic and security situation.
Good morning, this is the Week Ahead Market Report for Monday December 19, 2011.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was lower by nearly 1.3 percent, and the Hang Seng Index was lower by about 1.2 percent.
The FTSE 100 was was lower by about 0.41 percent percent, and the German DAX was lower by about 0.6 percent.
In the US, markets are lower this morning.
Some key data due to be released this week includes housing starts on Tuesday, existing home sales on Wednesday, GDP on Thursday, and durable orders on Friday.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Cintas (NASDAQ:CTAS) and Diamond Foods (DMND) on Tuesday, KB Home (NYSE:KBH) on Wednesday, CalAmp (NASDAQ:CAMP) on Thursday, and China Natural Resources (NASDAQ:CHNR) on Friday.
