The first trading day of the week opens with investors sending stocks lower after a report of slower growth in Japan, and weaker than expected trade data from China.
Good morning, this is Sayoko Murase with the Week Ahead Market Report for August 13, 2012.
In overseas trading, Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average was about even, while the Hang Seng was lower by about three tenths of a percent. The FTSE 100 was lower by about a thrid of a percent and the German DAX was about even.
On the earnings front, expect to hear from Bob Evans Farms (BOBE) on Tuesday, Chimera Investment (NYSE:CIM) on Wednesday, Cosi (COSI) on Thursday, and American Apparel (NYSE:AAP) and Foot Locker (NYSE:FL) on Friday.
In economic news, expect to hear data on retail sales on Tuesday, inflation on Wednesday, initial claims on Thursday, and leading indicators on Friday.
